You may be saying, That’s great that Jesus is exalted in Heaven. It’s great to know He is in charge. But I’m still stuck here on earth. If you think that, somebody has been Laying to you According to ( Ephesians 2:6 ), believers have been raised up and exalted with Christ. God did not just give you new life when He saved you. God brought the church along when He raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him in the place of authority in the heavenly places. So if Jesus Christ is in charge, and we are exalted with Him, then we ought to be exercising His power and authority . If we aren’t, something is wrong. Something is out of whack, because ( Ephesians 2:6 ), says that where Jesus is, you and I are. The church has been raised with Christ. Tone in next week for more of God’s powerful word.
gaThe reason Jesus can raise the church to such an exalted position of authority is that He Himself was raised triumphantly from the dead and enthroned in Heaven over all principalit fies and powers. In other words, Jesus is firmly in charge. Paul wanted the church at Ephesus to understand this, so he prayed for the church. Paul was praying that the church at Ephesus would understand what they had and who they were associated with. He was praying that the church would understand what took place when Jesus Christ was raised from dead. What happened is that the risen and ascended Christ now possesses all authority in Heaven and on earth ( Matthew 28:18 ). He is in charge of the universe. Paul goes on to say that Christ is exalted far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come. and He put all things in subjection under His feet ( Ephesians 1:21-22 ). Like a conquering general, Jesus has His foocctttt on the neck of His enemies. Everything and everyone on earth and under the earth is subject to Him. God the farther raised jesus and seated His Son at his right hand, the place of ultimate authority. He runs the show. Many say that the united state is the only superpower left in the world today. That makes the president the most powerful man in the world. But the reality is that there is only one superpower in this universe, and it’s the Kingdom of God. And since Jesus Christ is sitting in the position of authority in this Kingdom, Let me say it again. He is in charge
Before we turn to another major section of our study, I want to note briefly the four areas that demons target in their activity of carrying out satan’s agenda. Satan is employing his demons in an attempt to destroy individual lives. Your adversary, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour ( 1 Peter 5:8 ). Satan wants you and me and the unsaved world, and he will use any method he can. He wants to keep the unsaved blinded to the truth and the saved ineffective for Christ. Satan’s is also using his demons against the family. Satan attempted to destroy Adam’s family, and then he tried to create hell’s substitute for the family in ( Genesis 6, ), Satan and his army will do anything they can to get into a family and break up ( 1 Corinthians 7:5 ). A third target of Satan and his demons is the church. Satan tries to wipe out the church externally by stirring up persecution, and he goes after the church internally by creating strife and disunity. When Ananias and Sapphira sinned, Peter said that satan filled their hearts to lie to the Holy Ghost ( Act 5:3 ). Fourth, Satan wants to destroy society itself. We saw earlier that the nations are controlled by demons ( Daniel 10 ). Some governments are so demonized that the leaders have no conscience about killing their people, and there is no justice in the system. The culmination of satanic and demonic influence over world government is found in ( Revelation 18 ), with the fall of Babylon, the last form of godless government. Satan’s influence in world affairs is great, and his goal is total chaos, anarchy, and destruction. tune in next sunday to get a word from the Lord.
The Bible refers to a second group of demons who are permanently imprison because of the exceptionally gross nature of their sin. According to ( Jude 6, ) these are angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode. They are being Kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day. Peter writes of these demons that God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment ( 2 Peter 2:4 ) What is the proper abode of angels? Heavenly places, the spiritual realm. These angels left that sphere when they came down to earth to commit an especially wicked sin. We referred to that sin earlier, the time when these angels cohabited with women and produced a mutant race of giants ( Genesis 6:1-4 ). This was Satan’s race that he hoped would take over. But God found a faithful man in Noah, defeated Satan, and destroyed this evil race of men. For leaving their proper abode after creation and committing that sin, these angels were cast into eternal fire and eternal judgment, locked up with no possibility of release or parole forever.
